2014 Fall Cleanup Update

What an amazing day we had at Historic Bluefields!! If you missed it I hope this blog gives me a chance to fill you in. Beautiful fall weather and amazing neighbors coming together again for another great outcome. To all of you driving by shouting "Thank you!" and " It looks amazing!" we appreciate your gratitude.

The picture should say it all. We have managed to revitalize 2 of the main triangles on Bluefields Ave (our main thoroughfare for ALL Bluefields residents) into thriving, colorful landscapes once again.

I want to give a huge thank you to the following residents that stepped up to the plate and made this all possible. Megan Deardorf, Maggie and David Sidlinger, Maggie Bracewell, Nancy Donovan, Kelly, Kris & Jack Kivilaan , Peter, Vicki & Addison Beare, Timothy Craig and my family Joe & Lauren-Elizabeth Siejakowski. You're personal time and financial commitments made these common spaces for the community much more than just common. I hope you are proud of what you accomplished in giving back to your community.

I would be amidst if I didn't mention our great neighbors and friends at JVI Secret Garden. Derek, Erin, what can we say but THANK YOU!!!! I came to you with a problem and you both whole heartily said "we are more than happy to jump in and help, we love our Bluefields neighbors!"

Can I say WOW!! You certainly did ... You lent us your time, talents and products in order to make these projects a success. We can't thank you enough.

We hope all of you in the Bluefields community will enjoy the 2 revitalized common spaces BUT we aren't done just yet !!!!

We must finish the center triangle on Bluefields Avenue and our progress will continue next weekend (October 4th, 9am) as we finalize the project with additional plants and mulch. Funding for the remaining plants is still needed as this project was sponsored solely by individual residents of Bluefields so we really hope to hear from more neighbors.

Our next goal is to revitalize the Lebanon Pike entrance. We have discussed the plan and preliminary agreements have all focused on

1. Continuing with 1-2 similar plantings that will finish off disguising the utility banks that currently reside while allowing easy access for maintenance.

2. Widening and Elevating the ground space in front of and around the main stone entrance sign to allow proper growth and features of plants.

3. Purchasing and proper placement of landscape that will not only accentuate our beautiful stone sign but make it really pop when you enter our neighborhood.

4. Finally we will finish it off with annual and perennial flowers that will provide color year round.

I hope to hear from more of my great neighbors with questions, comments, concerns and even better; a desire to contribute to the great cause of keeping Bluefields Beautiful!

We also want to invite those Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in our community to come out and earn some community credit hours!!

With your support, in time or monetary obligation we can truly revitalize much of our landscape while helping to reduce traffic and begin to focus on moving forward with other great projects.

I encourage you to reach out to others or myself and let us know what and where you see Bluefields being in your future.
