2014 Fall Cleanup & Triangle Design in Historic Bluefields

The Autumnal Equinox is just around the corner (September 22nd) and that means Fall Cleanup will soon be under way... It's time to weed those beds, feed that lawn, plant the mums and prep those bulbs for beautiful spring color! 

This year a group of residents from Bluefields Avenue and Cumberland Circle have decided to gather together and take on the cleanup and revitalization of the triangles most in need. Our goal of this Fall cleanup is not only to tidy up these triangles but also design a landscape that will continue to define Historic Bluefields as one of the most beautiful neighborhoods to travel around. 

Each triangle will be designed not only to add beauty but create symmetry and continuity with the specimens chosen. With the help of our good friends at JVI Secret Garden we will begin the process of this project at the Bluefields/Cumberland Circle triangle and make our way down Bluefields Avenue towards the main entrance. 

This project will be done in several stages and will include encourageing Bluefields neighbors to participate with their closest triangle. The triangles will always need ongoing maintenance and also watering in hot summer months. With your donation and or participation we will be well underway to a beautiful new landscape to admire while retaining the value of our homes in a gorgeous and scenic neighborhood.

Bluefields Avenue is the gateway to and through our neighborhood and has been an overused cut through for many years. Setting the tone with beautiful landscaping in these common area will also be the start of focusing on reducing non-residential traffic on Bluefields Avenue (and taking our beautiful Bluefield Avenue back!). 

On Saturday September 27th we will meet at the Bluefields/Cumberland Circle entrance at 9:00am to begin our re-design. If you would like to join us please feel free to contact me for additional information and list of projects we will tackle that day. 

Please keep in mind, the faster we raise funds the faster our project will be completed to admire in all of its beauty. This project will be funded solely by the neighbors of Bluefields donations. Fall is the best time to plant and really give plants the time to settle into their new environment, so we are excited to get this project under way!
